First Impression Friday: Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer

Happy Friday! This weekend for First Impression Friday I have a few polishes from Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer to share with you. This brand sells only polish from what I can tell and they offer a nice range of finishes from glitters to holos and shimmers etc.

I placed my order on 1/2/16, it shipped on 1/19/16 and I received it on 1/22/16, personally thats a little longer than I'd like to wait for an order but I did order during a sale so I don't know if that accounted for the longer processing. When I placed my order there was no turn around time listed on their site so I don't know if about 2 weeks is the norm or not. When I ordered there were so many pretty polishes to choose from that I couldn't pick and ended up just buying a mystery bag which came with 3 full size polishes. I really like getting mystery bags from new to me brands, its a fun way to try out the brand!

The polishes arrived in a fun pink bubble mailer, everything was individually wrapped and then put in a larger bubble mailer. There was also a business card and a copy of my invoice. Unfortunately upon opening the bubble envelope that had the polishes in it there was a really pungent odor of what I thought was cigarette smoke. In all my years ordering polishes from indies and other online places that was a first for me. I reached out to the maker just to let her know, I don't know her and didn't know if she smoked etc., sometimes with odors like cigarettes you don't even realize the smell is seeping into things like packing material or the like.

I heard back from the maker the day after I emailed her, she let me know that she did quit smoking recently but it was never near the polish and apologized. I appreciated the honesty and moved on with my life, then a few days later I got another email from the maker letting me know that she had found the source of the smoke smell and it turned out to be the wood burning stove in her house. Just wanted to let you guys know about the issue since stuff like that will affect me buying from someone. It's been a while since all of this happened so I'm guessing the maker has fixed the issue by now. I do appreciate the extra follow up from the maker and it changed my mind from never buying again to trying them out again in the future if something strikes my fancy.

Anyway...now that you've read my novel check out the swatches of what I got after the jump!

Deluxe is a dark denim blue jelly with silver shimmer. The shimmer is really really subtle in this, you can see it in my photos but in real life I couldn't really see it at all. The formula was good, it was sheer due to the jelly base but it built easily and was opaque in 3 coats.

Oh My Holo is a purple holo with multicolored glitter throughout. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply with nice opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Rhea is a rusty red frosty shimmer with a touch of holo. This isn't my favorite unfortunately, it looks a little to frostalicious for my taste...if not for that I'd really enjoy it. The formula was ok, it was on the thick side but it didn't give me issues with application and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall I'm not head of heels for anything I got in my mystery bag but I did like them enough to possibly buy from the brand again in the future. Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer can be found at http://www.seventysevennaillacquer.com/

  1. Interesting shop...lots of purples!

Love hearing about new brands and it seems her customer service is quite good - always a plus! Nice colors.

  3. I'm super sensitive to scents. I ordered from 77 this spring, and there was no smoke smell to my package, so I'm sure she's fixed the problem.

  4. I noticed that too. IDK though if I'd take a chance here though... maybe its just me but some of the pics differered in that certain shots looked more holo/glittery while other shots of the same shade looked more chrome/shimmer. That said there were a couple shades that caught my eye, a couple of the purples, the teal green/blue jelly, and the dark blue.
