Additional Addictions: ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Midi & Kae Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today for Additional Addictions I have a couple Ultra Matte Lip shades from ColourPop to share with you! ColourPop emailed me a few weeks back and asked if they could send me a few things and I was like heck yes...I love ColourPop's lippies and eyeshadows so it was a no brainer for me! They sent over a couple of their Ultra Matte Lip shades along with a couple of the Ultra Satin Lip shades which I'll have up in a couple of weeks!

This was my first time trying out the ColourPop Ultra Matte formula. I love liquid lipsticks, so I was really excited to give these a go. Check out the review after the jump!

Formula wise these are a more liquid-y liquid lipstick than I usually go for. I tend to prefer a more fluffy mousse like texture that the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks have. Because they are a bit thinner they apply easily in nice thin layers and dry really quickly. Both of these had really great color payoff and only needed 1 easy swipe to reach full opacity. These are a bit drying but I don't find them to be uncomfortable. They do tend to settle into the lip lines but I think thats the case with any matte liquid lip so I expected that.

First up is Kae, a warm medium brown. This is from the ColourPop collaboration with Karrueche Tran, it has special packaging that features a gold band at the top of the bottle and the writing is in gold. I was really scared of this color, it is so not a Jen kind of shade. I've always had big lips and its something I've been self conscious about when wearing bold lip colors so I tend to avoid them. That said, I like this a lot more than I though I would. Its not an everyday kind of color but it will be fun with the right look and I would definitely wear it for a night out!

The wear time is good on this and its transfer proof once it dries down. I do find that it wears away in the way that leaves a weird line around your inner lip but its easy to touch up without the product balling up or looking patchy.

Midi is light neutral pink. This shade has actually been on my list to grab in my next order for quite some time so I was beyond excited to see it in the package from ColourPop. On me this is a perfect my lips but better shade. For us pale pink toned ladies out there I think its a real winner. One of my favorite little details of the packaging of this is that the writing on the tube is holographic!

Wear time on this shade is really great! Because its so similar to my natural lip color it wears away without that obvious line in the inner lip. I've worn this shade to work every day for the last 2 weeks and have put lip balm over it about half way through the day most of the time. It really helps with the dryness but it doesn't seem to affect how good this wears. I usually put it on around 6:30am and when I get home and take it off after 5pm the color is still mostly there and it still looks good.

The ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips are available at https://colourpop.com/, they retail for $6! I'll definitely be picking up more of these, I love the longevity you get and the price doesn't break the bank!

  1. Not my kinds of colors but they look nice on you.

  2. Love this new Additional Addictions!

  3. thank you!! I'm glad to hear that!

  4. Love the Midi on you. I have so many matte and matte liquid lippies it is insane! Colourpop is my favorite, though. I've got the opposite of you - thinner lips. I have always preferred a neutral color on my lips, even when I was young, and for sure now that I am into the Medicare-age group.

  5. You're rocking both colors!
    I'm seriously loving "Additional Addictions".

  6. thank you!

  7. These looks fantastic on you. I especially love the first color. Don't you dare be self conscious about your gorgeous, full lips! Women pay money for lips like yours! ;)
