Happy Friday! Today for First Impression Friday I have some polishes from Dreamland Lacquer to share with you! I realized after getting these that Dreamland used to be called Smitten Polish (who I bought from and loved!) so I'm not sure if this is more like a second impression or what. Either way, its my first time trying out the brand since the rebranding!
This post is made up of 2 orders, 1 was direct from Dreamland and the other was a Hella Holo Customs order. Since the second order wasn't from Dreamland I won't be talking about that shipping etc. The order I placed direct from Dreamland was placed on June 9th, I believe the stated turn around time is 5-7 business days. My order ended up shipping on June 14th and I received it on June 16th. The polishes arrived in a bubble mailer and in little tubes. The tubes that Dreamland ships their polishes in are hard cardboard and the perfect size to keep them in because they are nice and snug...they also eliminate the need for bubble wrap which I think is great. You can see what the tubes look like over on My Nail Polish Obsession by clicking here, I apparently didn't save the pictures I took :(
Check out what I got after the jump!
Dragonberry II is a red toned purple holo. This polish was exclusive to Hella Holo Customs, which is a facebook group that has guest makers each month and they put out exclusive polishes. I originally had my eye on the original Dragonberry but missed the window to buy it, it ended up having issues fading and this is the replacement polish for the original. I was excited to grab this one, its not *as* pretty as the original pre-fading but I do enjoy it! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. It did dry down a little bit matte so top coat really brought it to life. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.
Figgy Pudding is a purple jelly base loaded with copper flakies. This is the polishes that made me place an order, I saw a swatch of it somewhere and decided I needed it in my life. The formula was good, due to the jelly base it is sheer but it builds. You could also layer it over another polishes, which is probably what I'll do next time. This dried down a little dull and top coat really brought out those flakies. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.
Mauka is a dark green holo. This one was another Hella Holo Customs exclusive. The holo is much stronger in person, even out in the sun my camera couldn't capture how pretty it was! The formula was great, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with great opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
You Saucy Minx is a cobalt blue jelly with red to green shifting shimmer. This has that magical color shift that was known as unicorn pee back in the day. This one was unfortunately a bit of a let down for me, don't get me wrong...it is gorgeous, its just not as fantastical as I was expecting it to be. I feel like the base ate up the color shift so all I could ever really see was the red in the shimmer. I tried every kind of lighting I could find and there was no visible shift on my nails, even at extreme angles. I can see the shift in the bottle so I guess it just didn't translate to the nail for me. The formula was good, it is a jelly so its sheer but buildable. It dries down dull so you'll want to top coat it. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.
Overall, I'll definitely buy from Dreamland again. I know that the customer service is great (from past experience when they were Smitten Polish) and that is a big part of why I'll buy again. Dreamland Lacquer is available at http://www.dreamlandlacquer.com/!
