Nine Zero Lacquer Fall 2016 Men of Letters Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have the Men of Letters Collection from Nine Zero Lacquer to share with you! This collection is inspired by the show Supernatural. I started watching the show a while ago but couldn't get into it, I decided to give it another try when I got this collection and am now obsessed (thanks Jess!). I decided to take my time posting these so that I could watch the show and figure out the meanings of each polish and what character they are inspired by, which was fun! Check out the swatches after the jump!

Angel Blade is a metallic silver. This has a nice foil look to it but it also has a touch of holo that is hard to pick up in photos. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. This was very nearly a 1 coater but there were just a couple patchy spots I needed a second coat for. You will need top coat for this since it dried a little dull. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Baby is a black jelly with silver holographic micro glitter. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. This dried a little dull and with texture so you'll need 1-2 coats of top coat to smooth it out and shine it up. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Croatoan is a dusty red holo. This has a nice rusty look to  it that I enjoy! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and had good opacity. This dried down dull, so you'll want to top coat it. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Holy Fire is golden flakies with a heavy sprinkle of holo. This is a stunner, I love the sparkle from the flakies and the holo...photos just don't do justice to it! The formula was good, it was a little sheer at first but it built easily. I used 2 coats for my photos but you may need 3 depending on your application. This dried down dull so I topcoated it to bring out all the sparkle!

Lucifer's Cage is a blue holo with grey undertones. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. This dried down a little dull so you'll want to top coat it. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Moose is a chocolate brown holo. The holo in this is super strong, I could even see it in my crappy office lighting! The formula was really nice, it was a good consistency and easy to apply. This dried down dull, I used top coat for my photos. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Purgatory is a greyed out taupe with a strong holo and flash of pink/red shimmer. This is one of my favorites of the collection, it looks a bit different depending on the light and the angle of your hand. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had really nice opacity. Like the others this dried down a little dull so you'll want to top coat it. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Singer Auto Salvage is a swampy green jelly with gold holographic micro glitter. This is another favorite, if you like weird greens like I do you'll love this one also! The formula was good, because of the jelly base it does start a little sheer but it built up easily. Depending on your application it will be a 2-3 coater. This does dry down dull and with texture so you'll need 1-2 coats of top coat. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Stolen Grace is an icy light blue holo. The holo is a little subtle but out in the sun its quite easy to see. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had good opacity. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

The Colt is a dark grey with red shimmer. The shimmer in this is much more obvious in real life than my camera picked up, it was very easy to see in person! The formula was fantastic, it was pretty much perfect in terms of consistency and opacity. I used 1 coat plus top coat for the photos below.

The King of Hell is a metallic red with a flash or orangey gold shimmer. This is really pretty on the nail, it has a nice lit from within quality to it that I always enjoy. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had good opacity. This dried down dull so you'll want to top coat it. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Wayward Son is a mossy green with a soft linear holo. The formula was good, it was a little thick in a good way and the opacity was great. It does have some brush strokes but they tended to fade away when the polish dries. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

The Men of Letters Collection is available now at NineZeroLacquer.com, prices range from $9-$11!

  1. I have really tried to like Nine Zero, but they never have anything I like. The colors always look boring and dull. Croatoan is the only color that peaked my interest in this entire collection.

  2. Oh dear! These are so super fantastic that I just placed an order. The hard part was limiting myself to only 2. :D

  3. I feel the same way. I almost force myself to purchase something from her just because I want to support Jess. But I will say, when I do get the polishes in the mail I fall in love with them. My favorite is Annual March Blizzard. It's the only polish I could stand on my fingers for a week without going nuts wanting to change the color. And Ruby is gorgeous too.
