China Glaze Fall 2016 Rebel Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have the Fall 2016 Rebel Collection from China Glaze to share with you! This collection is made up of 12 polishes, everything from a matte to glitter toppers. This collection has some great 90's inspired names which I really enjoy also! Check out the swatches after the jump!

Blue-ya is a dark blue jelly base loaded with blue and green flecks of glitter. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I did not have staining with this one but it looks like it could stain so I'd suggest using a couple coats of base coat with it. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Combat Blue-t's is a dark blue shimmer that dries matte. The formula was not my favorite, it dries too fast in my opinion and makes application a pain. If you are quick with this its worth the hassle because its really gorgeous! I love it both matte and with top coat. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Don't Mesh With Me is a pink/purple/iridescent topper. I didn't try to get this opaque on its own but it didn't look like it would be one to get opaque. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and I love the effect it gives. I used 1 coat over Jagged Little Teal for the photos below.

Dope Taupe is a taupe creme. The formula was good, it was a little thick but I had no issues with application. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Fresh Prince-ss is a light pink creme. The formula was ok, I found it to be a little hard to control though. It was patchy at first but it leveled out nicely with the second coat. Depending on your application you'll need 2-3 coats, I used 2 coats on some nails and 3 coats on others for the photos below.

Heroine Chic is a dark charcoal with reddish shimmer.  I wanted to like this one but something about the finish just doesn't do it for me. The formula was good, it was sheer but the consistency was good. I used 3 coats for the photo below.

Holo At Ya Girl is a blue micro glitter with silver shimmer. I'm kinda disappointed that this isn't actually a holo, just sayin'. The formula was good, I used it as a topper and it had great glitter payoff. I used 1 coat for Fresh Prince-ss for the photos below.

Jagged Little Teal is a blue leaning team creme. The formula was good, it was a really nice consistency and it had great opacity. This was almost a 1 coater but I did need 2 to cover a couple patchy spots. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Pearl Jammin' is a light blue with a coppery orange flash of shimmer. The shimmer in this stands out nicely which I wasn't expecting and was happily surprised by! The formula was good, it was sheer but it built easily. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Purple Fiction is a shimmery purple. This is definitely one of those lit from within looking shimmers! The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Teen Spirit is a blackened jelly base with blue to purple duo chrome shimmer/micro glitter. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had fantastic opacity. This was almost a 1 coater for me but I did do 2 coats to cover up some light spots.

Y'all Red-y For is a cherry red with pink shimmer. The shimmer stands out nicely, its a little hard to see in photos because of how saturated the red is. The formula was good, it was a little thick but in a good way. The opacity was also good, I used 1 coat plus top coat for the photos below.

The Rebel Collection from China Glaze is available now at various retailers including Ulta and Sally Beauty! Prices range depending on where you purchase from!

  2. Pearl Jammin' is really pretty - but over all the collection has too many cool colors in the blue/purple families.
