Contrary Polish High Beams; June 2016 A Box Indied Swatch & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a nice weekend, its still the weekend for me! Today I have one of the polishes from the final A Box Indied to share with you. This is from Contrary Polish and its called High Beams. This is a dark purple jelly with a scattered holo and purple/pink shimmer. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. It was sheer due the jelly nature of the base but it built easily and was opaque in 3 coats. This did dry down a little dull so you'll want to top coat it to really bring it to life! I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

High Beams is exclusive to the June 2016 A Box Indied available at Llarowe.com, preorder for the box is from June 1st to June 4th.

First Impression Friday: Kiko

Happy Friday! Anyone have fun plans for the weekend? I have a nice 3 day weekend so I'm planning on tackling part of my kitchen renovation. I'm finally getting my counters replaced in a couple of weeks and my current cabinets are in good shape but the color doesn't really match my aesthetic so I'm going to paint them white. It should be interesting to say the least since I've never painted cabinets before. Mostly I'm just excited to get my kitchen on the way to being done. I've had the counters, backsplash, new sink and new faucet for a long time now and have had to push off the installation because of my Grandma being sick and passing away then Degen getting hurt.

Today for First Impression Friday I'm going to be talking about Kiko! This was an in store purchase so I can't speak to shipping or their website but you can buy polish on there if you don't have a Kiko store near you. Kiko is easily the brand thats been on my need to try list for the longest, they are a European brand so getting them in the states was pretty much impossible for years. Kiko started opening stores in the US about 2 years or so ago and finally expanded somewhat near me. The closest store isn't actually that close but I happened to be going up to LA in January and there was a mall on the way that had a Kiko store!

Kiko doesn't only sell polish, they also sell makeup! The store I went to was awesome, it was bright and clean, really well laid out. The ladies working were really helpful (though a little overzealous with the up-selling but what else is new). I ended up picking up a few polishes and a couple nail care items! Check out everything I got after the jump!

First Impression Friday: Lou It Yourself

Happy Friday! This week for First Impression Friday I'm going to be talking about Lou It Yourself. I can't recall where I found out about this brand, it was either in a Facebook group or possibly a video on JessFace90's channel when the brand was in a collab box...maybe both lol!

Lou It Yourself sells a variety of items ranging from polish to vinyls and nail and body care. Originally I went over there just for some vinyls but ended up grabbing a couple other things also! I placed my order on 1/1/16 and received my order on 1/9. Everything was packaged really nicely and it included a nice thank you note, business card and 10% off code for my next order.

I did have a bit of an issue with  my order, one of the vinyl sheets I had ordered was left out by accident. I actually didn't notice until 1/21 (because I seriously lagged at opening the package) so I emailed Lou and she literally replied within 1 minute apologizing and she let me know a replacement would be sent out. Unfortunately the replacement got lost in the mail. I emailed Lou again on 2/2 letting her know that nothing had shown up and we decided to wait a couple more days to see if they showed up but they didn't so she re-sent them again on 2/9 and I received them a few days later! I was really impressed with the customer service, especially considering how long it took me to realize they were missing and then Lou still being great after USPS messed up. (I never did get the original replacements haha). Customer service like this is what will make me a return customer!

Anyway...on to the actual products!

First up is a polish I picked up called Electric Relaxation. This ia a really pretty blue holo. The formula was good, it was a bit sheer but it built easily. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Next up is the No More Uglicles Cuticle Balm in the scent Gingerbread. I love balms in this kind of packaging for on the go and on my desk at work. I really enjoyed this one, I've already used it all up! The scent was great, exactly as you'd expect from the name!

Last are the 2 vinyl sheets I got, each sheet comes with 20 vinyls.

First up are Honeycomb vinyls. I used these with a few polishes from OPI's Hello Kitty Collection for nail art!

The other sheer I got was the Flower Curlz sheet, these are the poor vinyls that had a heck of a time getting to me. The wait was worth it though, I really like them!

I used the Flower Curlz vinyls over a watercolor mani topped with black for nail art!

Overall I'm happy with what I picked up and will shop with Lou It Yourself again thanks to the great customer service!

NCLA x Color4Nails Lolanthe Swatch & Review

Hi guys! This afternoon I have a brand new NCLA polish to share with you called Lolanthe! This polish is a collaboration shade with Color4Nails. Lolanthe will be launching this weekend on 5/22 over on the Color4Nails site.

Lolanthe is a vivid purple with a strong holo. This polish is kind of like 2 in 1 because it looks totally different before you top coat it.  Before top coat its a lighter purple and after top coat it becomes darker and more vivid which is how I personally prefer it! The holo is much stronger in real life than in my photos, I mean just look at all the holo in the bottle in my photos! The formula was good, it was good consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Lolanthe will be available at Color4Nails.com beginning on 5/22/16! You can use the code PolishAh10 to save 10% off of your order!

Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle 2.0 Swatch & Review

Hi guys! This afternoonI have Razzle Dazzle 2.0 from Girly Bits to share with you. The original Razzle Dazzle was of the OG Girly Bits polishes released way back in the early indie days of 2011.

Razzle Dazzle 2.0 is pretty much the same as the original, its raspberry colored glitter and a sprinkle of scattered holo in a fuchsia jelly base. This can be worn on its own or over another polish, it looks great either way. The formula was good, it is sheer due to the jelly base but it builds up easily and much more than you would expect after the first coat. I used 3 coats for full opacity. Because of all of the glitter you may need 2 coats of top coat to get it smooth and glassy!

Razzle Dazzle 2.0 is available now at GirlyBitsCosmetics.com!

Illyrian Polish Eerie Woodland Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have part of the Eerie Woodland Collection from Illyrian Polish to share with you. This is a brand that I was planning on buying from in the near future so I was really excited to get a few in a recent package from Color4Nails to try out. I was already excited about the brand and these pretty much guaranteed that I'm gonna go buy a few polishes I had my eye on, you'll probably see them in the future in a First Impression Friday post!

Illyrian Polish makes a lot of really gorgeous shimmers and this collection has a bunch of them. I believe the Eerie Woodlands Collection has been released in different parts, from what I can tell these 6 polishes are from the third part of the collection. Check out the swatches after the jump!

Literary Lacquers Tonight's Adventure Swatch & Review

Hi guys! Today I have a special polish from Literary Lacquers to share with you called Tonight's Adventure. This polish was made in collaboration with Debbie from Running With Lacquer. It is inspired by her dear friends daughter who has been struggling with mental illness. $5 from each bottle sold will be donated to the International OCD Foundation, which is an organization that helps people with OCD to live full and productive lives. You can read the entire story behind the shade in the listing on the Literary Lacquers shop which is linked at the end of the post.

Tonight's Adventure is inspired by the book Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern and it's a coral-y orange/pink with copper and orange shimmer along with a really pretty linear holo. The holo is more evident in real life than my photos. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had nice opacity. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Tonight's Adventure is available now, it is LE and available for the entire of the month of May so don't wait too long to grab it! It retails for $13 in the Literary Lacquers etsy shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/LiteraryLacquer

First Impression Friday: UNT

Happy Friday everyone! Today for First Impression Friday I have something from UNT to share with you. I've been wanting to try their peel off base coat for a while since I had  heard great things about it. After stalking the Live Love Polish site for what felt like forever I finally gave up and ordered direct from UNT. The pricing was the same as Live Love Polish but shipping was free so I saved a few dollars. The shipping does take longer if you order direct but if you don't mind waiting it's a better deal if UNT is all you are looking for.

Aside from the peel off base coat UNT also offers a wide range of regular polishes on their site, none really stood out enough for me to buy though. Their website also sells a range of makeup and skin care. I placed my order on 2/1 and received it on 2/16, so really it wasn't that long considering it shipped to California from overseas (I think they are based in Taiwan but I'm not 100% sure). It arrived really well packed in a plastic mailer, the actual polish was inside a plastic bubble type of thing...I can't think of any other way to describe it haha.

Check out all my thoughts on the Ready for Takeoff Peelable Base Coat after the jump

Nine Zero Lacquer A Peculiar Star 2.0 and May 2016 Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have a couple new polishes from Nine Zero Lacquer to share with you!

First up is A Peculiar Star 2.0, this is a blue jelly base filled with blue holographic and silver holographic micro glitter. This is a reformulation of one of my favorite polishes of last year, A Peculiar Star. Jess had to re-imagine this shade due to a supply issue with the glitter that was previously used. Happy to say that this version is just as gorgeous as the original, though fairly different. The formula was good, it is sheer due to the jelly nature of the base but it builds easily and has a ton of depth to it when fully opaque. I used 3 coats plus top coat for my photos.

This does dry with a little texture from the glitter but was smooth for me with 1 coat of top coat.  I would suggest a peel off base with this, removal can be difficult because of the glitter.

For reference here is the original version of A Peculiar Star. I still love this polish, hopefully Jess will be able to re-make it one day!

May 2016 is an aqua blue holo with silver holographic micro glitter sprinkled in. This was much more linear holo looking in real life, I'm still trying to figure out a way to capture holos well with artificial lighting. Any tips are welcome in the comment section! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

A Peculiar Star 2.0 and May 2016 are available now at NineZeroLacquer.com, A Peculiar Star 2.0 is $10 and May 2016 is $11.

This collection is made up of 7 polishes, 6 are a single color of glitter in a white crelly base and 1 is a rainbow of glitter in a crelly base. I love me a good crelly and surprisingly didn't already have a lot of these types of polishes in my collection. I feel like we usually see several colors in crellies so these are a bit different! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

First Impression Friday: Bear Pawlish

Happy Friday! Today for First Impression Friday I have some goodies from Bear Pawlish to share with you.  Bear Pawlish has been on my radar for a while, they were one of those brands that I always seemed to miss a restock on for the longest time. I finally wandered over there one day and found stuff in stock so I bought a few polishes that caught my eye!

It looks like the Bear Pawlish is having a restock today so I suggest you head on over and grab what you want while its there. Since the website is in maintenance mode as I type this I can't tell you if the polishes I picked up are still in stock or not, unfortunately. I placed my order on January 11th and everything arrived to me on January 19th, I believe there was a weekend in there so the turn around time was great! The polishes arrived in a fun pink bubble mailer and the polishes were bubbled wrapped. There was a copy of my invoice in the package buy no business card, which was a bummer...I always like getting business cards because I hold onto them.

Check out everything I got after the jump!
