Formula X System Review + TGIF Swatch

Hi guys! Today I have a quick review of the Formula X System along with one of their polish shades called TGIF. I received a box from Inflenster with these products and was excited to give them a go! I've been a big fan of Formula X since it was launched by Sephora but had never tried out any of their products other than the polish.

Their system includes a "cleaanse" step which removed the oils and moisture from your nail, this helps the base coat adhere better which will help your mani last longer. The second step is  their base coat which is a sticky base coat similar to something like CND Stickey or Orly Bonder. The next step is your polish and you finish that up with their top coat. The top coat is meant to give a gel like effect so it dries super shiny and relatively quickly. I was a little skeptical about the system before using it, I find that they usually don't do anything fantastical, but I really ended up enjoying it. I got fantastic wear with TGIF and have since used it with other brands and had great wear with them also. When I wore TGIF I took my polish off after 6 days and had minimal tip wear and a teeny tiny chip, usually I have crazy tip wear thanks to typing on a keyboard all day, so that was a nice surprise. Overall I enjoy it and will continue to use it!

TGIF is a bright peachy pink. This shade was incredibly hard to photograph, it leans a bit more pink in real life. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and I had no issues with it being streaky or patchy. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

You can pick up The System from Formula X plus 1 polish of your choice on the Sephora website for $32!

Different Dimension Chicago Duo Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have a new duo from Different Dimension to share with you! This duo is inspired by the city of Chicago, which is where Polish Con is taking place this weekend. These will be available at Polish Con and on the Different Dimension site on 9/23.

First up is Bean There, Done That, a silver holo with silver micro flakes of glitter and multicolored shimmer. This is named for the Cloudgate in Millennium Park. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply. It was a little sheer on the first coat but it builds easily. Depending on your application you'll need 2-3 coats. I used 2 coats plus top coat for my photo.

Lincoln Park Before Dark is a dark purple holo with ultra chrome flakies and color shifting glitter. This one is named after the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. The formula was great, it was a good consistency and applied easily with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The Chicago Duo will be available at Polish Con this weekend Chicago  and on the Different Dimension website on 9/23!

Hi guys! Today I have a brand new collaboration box to share with you! This box is called Indies Outside The Box and its a bit different than any other collaboration box I've seen. This box features Top Shelf Lacquer and Lollipop Posse Lacquer as the main brands, and each box will have 2 guest brands. This box is different because each polish in the box is fan-created! There is a Facebook group for this box (linked at the end of the post) where each quarter photos are submitted for the makers to draw inspiration from. The images are voted on by the group and the winning image for each brand is what the polish is based on!

Serum No. 5 September 2016 Swatch & Review

Hi guys! Hope you had a nice weekend! It's still technically my weekend because I have today off from work. I decided to take today off because it's my birthday! I'm usually like woohoo about my birthday but not so much this year. My Grandma and I shared the same birthday so its weird to not be spending some time with her today...to spend 31 birthdays with someone and then have them gone sucks. I'm probably going to spend my day snuggling Degen :)

Today I have September 2016 from Serum No. 5 to share with you. This is a deep dusty purple bse with a flash of blue shimmer and glitter and fuchsia glitter. This also glows yellow/green in the dark! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. It was a little bit sheer but it built easily. Due to the glow pigment it does dry down dull so you'll want to top coat it to bring it to life. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Serum No. 5 is available at www.serumno5.com, September 2016 retails for $13

Additional Addictions: Bathroom Facelift

Hi guys! Today I have a looksie at my little guest bathroom facelift that I did at the same time as my kitchen. Both of my bathrooms have been on my need to renovate list since I bought my place but they weren't a huge priority because they weren't as the kitchen was. I ended up redoing part of my guest bathroom right now because of the amount of quartz I had left over from my kitchen counters, it was more cost effective to do everything at the same time! Check out what I did after the jump!

First Impression Friday: Shleee Polish

Happy Friday! Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I'm not sure what I'm doing but I do have a nice 3 day weekend so I'm looking forward to getting some relaxation time in!

This week for First Impression Friday I have a couple polishes from Shleee Polish to share with you! I added this brand after a post in a Facebook group about underrated brands. Shleee was one of the originals on my list to try for this series and I finally decided to push the checkout button in their etsy shop a couple weeks back! Shleee has a lot of anime and cartoon themed polishes so if you like those kind of things this brand is right up your alley!

I placed my order on 8/12/16 and received it on 8/17/16, so the turn around time was good! The polishes arrived in a bubble mailer and individually bubble wrapped. There was also a copy of my invoice. I actually got 3 polishes but just didn't end up liking the 3rd so I've decided to just post the 2 I did like. There was nothing formula wise wrong with the one I'm not posting, I just really ended up hating it on me...maybe it will make an appearance one day if I can find a layering combo I like for it! Anyway... check out the swatches after the jump!

Nine Zero Lacquer September 2016 Swatch & Review

Hi guys! Today I have September 2016 from Nine Zero Lacquer to share with you! This is a really nice black base with a strong linear holo and holo micro glitter.  I really love how strong the holo is in this one, I could easily see it in my crappy office lighting which is always nice!

The formula was great, it was a good consistency and applied easily with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Different Dimension Whatchu Talkin' 'Bout Willis (Polish Con Exclusive) Swatch & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a nice weekend, its still technically the weekend for me thanks to Labor Day! Today I have a beautiful polish from Different Dimension called Whatchu Talkin' 'Bout Willis to share with you! This polish is exclusive to an event called Polish Con which is taking place in Chicago on September 17th. There will be a ton of brands at the event along with bloggers at tutorial tables! I wish I could go but its just not in the cards for me, hopefully this won't be a 1 time event and I can go next time!

A bunch of the brands that will  be at Polish Con will have polishes exclusive to the event, I have a few more to show you this week but this is the first one!

This is a really gorgeous garnet red base with a strong linear holo, there are also some color shifting shimmers and copper glitters in the mix! If you're going to Polish Con it's one I'd definitely pick up...who am I kidding, if I was going I'b be buying all the things haha! The formula was really nice, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with great opacity. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

This polish will only be available at Polish Con, you can check out the event page for Polish Con on Facebook here.

First Impression Friday: Wicked Polish

Happy Friday! This week for First Impression Friday I have a few polishes from Wicked Polish to share with you! Wicked Polish has been on my need to try list for a long long time. I was going to buy from here a little while back but then she took a little hiatus. She just recently returned so I decided I better get what I want now, just in case!

Wicked Polish is known for glitters, there are a lot of fun color and shape combinations and thats what originally drew me to the brand. I placed my order on 8/12/16 and received it on 8/27/16, the turn around time was listed as 3-5 business days but my order didn't end up going out until around 8 business days. I did message Wicked Polish on etsy to ask about when my order would ship and got a quick response letting me know that the maker had been sick and she was catching up, I definitely appreciated the quick response so the slower than normal shipping time doesn't really bother me.

My order arrived in a small cardboard box, everything was wrapped in bubble wrap and there was a nice thank you note. There was also an extra polish included because of the shipping delay, I felt like that was much more than was necessary!

Check out the polishes I got after the jump!
