I wish I had read your post before I purchased 2 of these. I like the colors, but the magnet is awful. One coat doesn't work and even doing two coats didn't get the best effect. I'll stick to the Nails Inc. magnetic polish that I have. It's much better!

I just bought and tried mine today and had the same problem with the CG magnet...I was thinking maybe my application method was faulty or maybe I ruined the magnet (because I cleaned it with nail polish remover) but you seem to be having the same problems. I really want the starburst design...where did you get your Icing magnet from?

I wonder if you could somehow switch out the magnets on the back of the applicator. They look like normal magnets, it'd be interesting to see if you could pry them off and replace them with something stronger and have it still work.

I didn't realize that it was the magnet and not user error that was causing me to have problems with the chevron and star patterns. I'm really disappointed in this collection. The polish is so expensive for having colors that I feel are very blah. It also really irks me that I had to shell out as much as the polish cost for the magnet, and the magnet is of inferior quality! I would suggest to others that you guys go with Icing brand or a drugstore brand, it'll end up costing you less than the CG and the colors selection will be better! Nouveau Cheap just posted a review today for a $7.99 drug store magnetic.

ahh so i wasn't the only one with the issue with these magnets. I have attraction and instant chemistry. The chevron pattern really doesn't work on me either, and the star one took me forever to use. it feels like the mnagnet can cover a large part of your nail but the design comes out smaller, so it looks like a block of pattern on your nails LOL happened so many times -_-
while the magnet itself is cute, it doesn't seem strong like you said. though my designs didn't come out nearly as well as yours, your instant chemistry one came out great. Might consider buying a few more (ou move me & pull me close), but I'm looking into the icing ones. :D

That´s so dissapointing! I have three Essence magnetic polishes and like this, the magnet is sold apart. And it´s horrible! I couldn´t do anything with it!! I was planning on buying the china Glaze to try with my polishes, but I will pass!! I will try to get two Icing with both patterns... two bad about the strar though :(

I like the idea of magnetic polishes, but I'm already such a klutz that I don't know if I'll be able to make them work! They seem so fiddly somehow.

Thanks for the amazing post! Looks like you really put a lot of time and effort into it. If someone like you who is so good at nail polish had so much trouble with the ChG magnetics, I think I had better reconsider getting them :( Especially since they cost so much more than the normal ChG polishes.
